Adam's family moved to Costa Mesa in the mid-1950s, becoming integral members of the community as teachers, engineers, coaches, and dedicated volunteers. Raised in the Wimbledon neighborhood, Adam attended Calvary Chapel and Newport Harbor High School before planting his own roots as a homeowner in Mesa Verde.
Adam's educational journey began in Costa Mesa, where he attended local schools before pursuing higher education. He earned his PhD in Public Health with a focus on Environmental Health Sciences from the University of South Carolina, complementing his extensive academic background with a Master of Arts in Geography from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from San Diego State University. Adam also holds an Associate of Arts degree from Orange Coast College.

As Chair of the Costa Mesa Planning Commission, he has played a pivotal role in evaluating zoning and planning codes, managing environmental review hearings, voting to deny conditional use permits for businesses that did not meet city code, and has been a strong advocate for maintaining the character of our community. Adam previously served as a member of the Costa Mesa Finance and Pension Advisory Committee, the Costa Mesa Sanitary District Citizens’ Advisory Committee, Chair of the Newport-Mesa Surplus Land Committee (Banning Ranch), and as a Sustainability and Transportation Policy Advisor for the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Adam's efforts earned his organization recognition as an "Outstanding Nonprofit" by the State of California.
Adam has deep expertise in environmental sustainability and city planning, and holds certifications as a LEED Green Associate and Envision Sustainability Professional.
